The short version: HereBeThere uses your location to map where you've been, and that information stays on your device unless you choose to share an image or save a copy of your data. ETH0 Apps does not collect, store, or share any of your personal data.
Introduction
ETH0 Apps built HereBeThere as a self-contained iOS application. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Information Collection and Use
HereBeThere does not collect any personally identifiable information or usage data. The app never transmits data to ETH0 Apps, and it never sends data to any third party on its own. Data leaves your device only when you choose to share an image or save a copy of your data, as described below.
Location information. To provide its core service, HereBeThere accesses your device's location, but only with your permission. Location data is used solely to record and display the areas you have explored, including while the app runs in the background if you turn on always-on tracking. This location data is processed and stored on your device. It is never transmitted to ETH0 Apps, and it is never sold or used for advertising. It leaves your device only if you choose to share an image or save a copy of your data.
You can change or turn off location access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > HereBeThere. If you turn it off, the app stops recording new areas.
Apart from location as described above, the app does not collect or access:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Device or advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics
- Photos or other content on your device. The app reads or writes a file only when you choose to save or load your exploration data.
- Health, financial, or biometric data
Maps
HereBeThere displays maps using Apple Maps. To draw the map, your device requests map imagery for the area on screen directly from Apple. Those requests are handled by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy, and ETH0 Apps does not receive them. Your exploration history is not sent with these requests.
Sharing Your Explorations
When you choose to share, HereBeThere creates an image of the map view you selected, including the areas you explored, your exploration statistics, and any message you write, and passes it to the iOS share sheet. The image goes only to the people or apps you choose, and ETH0 Apps does not receive a copy. Keep in mind that a shared image shows places you have been.
Saving and Loading Your Data
You can save a copy of your exploration data to a file and load it again on this device or another device, for example when you move to a new phone. This happens only when you start it. You choose where the saved file goes, such as the Files app, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, or another location you control, and you choose which file to load. The app never saves or loads these files on its own, and ETH0 Apps never receives a copy. A saved file contains your exploration history, which shows places you have been, so keep it somewhere you trust. If you save it to a cloud service, that service's own privacy policy applies to the file.
Data Storage
HereBeThere stores your data locally on your device. The app does not upload anything to cloud services, remote databases, or external storage on its own. A copy goes elsewhere only when you save one yourself. If you delete the app, the data stored in the app is removed with it, but any copies you saved stay where you put them.
Third-Party Services
HereBeThere does not integrate with, embed, or rely on any third-party services, SDKs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking tools. Maps are provided by Apple, as described above. No third party has access to your location history through this app unless you choose to share an image or save a copy of your data with them.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The app does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, device fingerprinting, or any other tracking technologies.
Children's Privacy
Because the app does not collect any data from any user, it does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or any other age).
Changes to This Privacy Policy
ETH0 Apps may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, within the app, or on the App Store listing. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes are effective when posted.
Your Rights
Since ETH0 Apps does not collect any personal data, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, delete, or port. Your exploration history lives on your device and in any copies you choose to save. You can move it to another device yourself by saving and loading your data. You control location access through iOS Settings, and you can remove the app's data by deleting the app and any copies you saved.
